Hurricane Preparations

The following tips are to help prevent damage to your telephone equipment in the event of severe weather.

• If you evacuate the building, turn off the power on all telephone and voice mail equipment and disconnect the power source.

• If you remain in the building and lose power, turn off the power on all telephone and voice mail equipment and disconnect the power source until power is restored.

• If your system is equipped with a battery backup system, keep in mind that most battery backups only last approximately 1-3 hours. You may want to turn off the power on all equipment to conserve battery backup power until you have an emergency.

• If you have any equipment residing on the floor, you may want to raise the computer case from the floor in case of flooding.

• If you evacuate and turn off the main breaker panel, you must first turn off and unplug the telephone and voice mail equipment. When you return and turn on the main breaker panel, then turn on the telephone and voice mail equipment. On your ShoreTel phone system be advised that the phones will go through 2 or 3 re-set cycles before completing the boot-up sequence.

• If you want your main telephone number forwarded, please contact your carrier for assistance as this is not a function that ETI can perform.
